Terms of Service
Last updated: 16 August 2026
These Terms are the agreement between you and Retrouse for use of the Retrouse apps and the optional Retrouse cloud service (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
The Service
Retrouse is a private journaling and reflection app. It lets you capture entries, plans, stamps, and reflections; it stores them encrypted on your device; and it can optionally sync them across your devices and connect to third‑party services you choose.
Your account
You need an account to sync. You are responsible for keeping your sign‑in method secure and for activity under your account. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your country (and at least 13). Provide accurate information and keep it current.
Subscriptions and billing
Retrouse offers a free tier and paid plans (e.g. Gold). Paid plans:
- are billed in advance for the period you choose and renew automatically until cancelled;
- may include a trial — if you don't cancel before it ends, it converts to a paid subscription;
- can be cancelled any time; access continues until the end of the current period;
- are non‑refundable except where required by law.
Plan limits (such as attachment storage or AI usage) are enforced using aggregate usage counters. Prices and features may change with notice.
Your content
You own your content. You keep all rights to the entries, attachments, and other material you create. To run the Service (store, sync, back up, and display your content to you across your devices), you grant us a limited licence to host and process it for that purpose only. We don't use your journal content to train AI models, and we don't sell it.
Your responsibility for your content and your devices
You are solely and fully responsible for the data you enter into the Service — for its accuracy, legality, and for the consequences of recording it. Retrouse is a journal: what you choose to write down, attach, or sync is entirely your decision and your risk.
You are also responsible for the security of the devices and sign‑in methods you use with the Service. That includes setting and protecting a device lock (PIN, biometrics), keeping your operating system and the app up to date, not sharing your credentials, and signing out on devices you no longer control.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Retrouse ("we", "us") accepts no liability for the security of the data you enter or for any loss, disclosure, or misuse of that data arising from circumstances on your side, including without limitation:
- a lost, stolen, or unattended device, or a device without a lock;
- unauthorised access to your device, account, or sign‑in method (e.g. shared or phished credentials);
- unintentional use or disclosure — by you or by anyone you allowed to use your device or account;
- your own exports, screenshots, or copies of your content stored outside the Service;
- third parties you granted access to via integrations you connected.
Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law. Keep your own exports of anything important.
Acceptable use
Don't use the Service to break the law, infringe others' rights, upload malware, attempt to breach security or access other users' data, or abuse the infrastructure (e.g. automated bulk load outside normal use). We may suspend accounts that do.
AI features
AI features are provided "as is" and can be wrong. They are not professional, medical, legal, or mental‑health advice. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency services or a qualified professional.
Third‑party services
Integrations (Google, Microsoft, Apple, and others) are governed by those providers' own terms. We are not responsible for third‑party services, and connecting them is at your discretion.
Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, Retrouse is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data beyond what the law requires. Keep your own exports of anything important.
Website, information, and materials
These points apply to this website (retrouse.com and its subdomains) and to informational content in the app:
- The content of these pages is for your general information and use only. It is subject to change without notice.
- Neither we nor any third parties provide any warranty or guarantee as to the accuracy, timeliness, performance, completeness, or suitability of the information and materials found or offered here for any particular purpose. You acknowledge that such information and materials may contain inaccuracies or errors, and we expressly exclude liability for any such inaccuracies or errors to the fullest extent permitted by law.
- Your use of any information or materials on this website is entirely at your own risk, for which we shall not be liable. It is your own responsibility to ensure that any products, services, or information available through this website meet your specific requirements.
- This website and the Service contain material which is owned by or licensed to us. This material includes, but is not limited to, the design, layout, look, appearance, and graphics. Reproduction is prohibited other than in accordance with the copyright notice, which forms part of these terms.
- All trademarks reproduced on this website which are not the property of, or licensed to, the operator are acknowledged on the website.
- Unauthorised use of this website or the Service may give rise to a claim for damages and/or be a criminal offence.
- From time to time this website may include links to other websites or social‑media sites. These links are provided for your convenience to provide further information. They do not signify that we endorse those websites, and we have no responsibility for their content.
Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or where necessary to protect the Service or other users.
Changes
We may update these Terms; the updated version will be posted here with a new date, and material changes will be surfaced in the app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at Retrouse's place of establishment, without regard to conflict‑of‑laws rules, unless mandatory local consumer law says otherwise.
